Charleston Man Accused of Beating a Blind Woman With a Baseball Bat, Metal Chair

A Charleston man was arrested after police stated that he beat a blind woman with a baseball bat and a metal chair. This is according to a report from ABC4 News.

53-year-old Kevin S. Sloan was charged with malicious wounding, according to a report filed with the Kanawha County Magistrate Court.

Charleston Police responded to a domestic battery call at an apartment at Jacob Arbors on June 22.

The complaint states that the 60-year-old woman who had been beaten with a bat and folding chair was found crying, shaking and having issues with her speech.

The woman told police that Sloan is her boyfriend and that he tried to kill her with a bat. She also told them that Sloan was going to kill her grandchildren in St. Albans and he was possibly armed.

According to the police report, Sloan gave the 60-year-old options of how she wanted to die. “Would you want me to beat you to death with a 4×4 or shoot you with this 9mm three times?”

Before letting the victim go home, Sloan said to her, “Before you go to sleep tonight, I’m going to kill your children and your grandchildren.”

Currently Sloan is being held on $50,000 bond at the South Central Regional Jail.
